The notice from The Lansing State Journal (March 22, 2004)
Leydorf, Jeffrey W., 53, of Bannister, Ovid-Elsie High School art teacher, died Saturday. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Jeff had been very active volunteer with the Gratiot Co. MIGenWeb site since it began in 1996 and helped many of the people who used the pages, mail lists and query board. He not only answered queries, he donated data files, encouraged his students to be involved with history by getting them to help with those files that we put online, although he was an art teacher.  Jeff was active in collecting history in the area and was very pro-active in preserving it for future generations. Jeff proofed the new pages on this site as they went online using his usual joking manner and actively helped with encouragement, ideas and files.
